Jonny Wilkinson

Jonny Wilkinson, born on May twenty-fifth, nineteen seventy-nine, is a celebrated English former rugby union player and entrepreneur. Renowned for his exceptional skills as a fly-half, he made a significant impact during his time with Newcastle Falcons and the French club Toulon. Wilkinson is perhaps best remembered for his iconic drop goal that clinched the victory for England in the 2003 Rugby World Cup Final, a moment that solidified his status as one of the greatest players in rugby history.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Wilkinson played club rugby for twelve seasons in the English Premiership with Newcastle Falcons, where he became the top point-scorer. In two thousand nine, he transitioned to Toulon, achieving remarkable success by winning two Heineken Cups and one Top fourteen championship during his five seasons with the club.

Wilkinson earned ninety-one caps for the England national team, playing a pivotal role in their triumph at the 2003 World Cup. His resilience shone through as he overcame numerous injuries to contribute to the squad that reached the final of the 2007 World Cup. Additionally, he toured with the British & Irish Lions on two occasions, in two thousand one to Australia and in two thousand five to New Zealand, earning six caps in total.

After retiring from rugby at the conclusion of the 2013–14 season, Wilkinson was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in two thousand sixteen. He currently serves as a studio pundit for ITV Sport, providing insights during the Six Nations Championship, Rugby World Cup, and other significant rugby events.
