Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán

Jorge Eliécer Gaitán was a prominent Colombian politician and statesman, renowned for his leadership of the Liberal Party. Born on January twenty-third, nineteen oh three, he dedicated his life to public service and education, holding significant positions such as the mayor of Bogotá from nineteen thirty-six to nineteen thirty-seven.

His influence extended to the national level when he served as the Education Minister from nineteen forty to nineteen forty-one and later as the Labor Minister from nineteen forty-three to nineteen forty-four. Gaitán's political ideology, known as Gaitanismo, is recognized as a form of liberal socialism that sought to address the needs of the Colombian populace.

Tragically, Gaitán's life was cut short during his second presidential campaign in nineteen forty-eight when he was assassinated. This event triggered the Bogotazo, a violent uprising that marked the beginning of a decade-long civil conflict in Colombia, known as La Violencia, which lasted from nineteen forty-eight to nineteen fifty-eight.
