Jørgen Moe

Jørgen Moe, born on April twenty-second, eighteen thirteen, was a prominent Norwegian poet, writer, and folklorist whose contributions to literature and culture remain significant. His passion for storytelling and folklore led him to collaborate with Peter Christen Asbjørnsen in the creation of the renowned collection, Norske Folkeeventyr, which showcases the rich tapestry of Norwegian folk tales.

In addition to his literary pursuits, Moe was a dedicated theologian and served as a Lutheran pastor. His faith and commitment to his community were evident throughout his life, culminating in his appointment as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kristianssand in eighteen seventy-four. He held this esteemed position until his passing in eighteen eighty-two.
