José Andrés

José Andrés, born on July thirteenth, nineteen sixty-nine, is a renowned Spanish-American chef and restaurateur who has made significant contributions to the culinary world. After relocating to the United States in the early nineteen nineties, he embarked on a journey that would see him open a multitude of acclaimed restaurants across various American cities.

Andrés is not only celebrated for his innovative cooking, which includes popularizing the small plates dining concept in America, but he is also a dedicated humanitarian. He founded World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organization committed to providing meals in the aftermath of natural disasters, showcasing his passion for helping those in need.

His accolades include several prestigious James Beard Awards and the National Humanities Medal, which he received in two thousand fifteen during a ceremony at the White House for his humanitarian efforts. Additionally, he has been honored with honorary doctorates from esteemed institutions such as Georgetown University, George Washington University, Harvard University, and Tufts University.

In March two thousand twenty-two, Andrés was appointed co-chair of the United States President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, a role he held until resigning just before Donald Trump took office in January two thousand twenty-five.
