Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of José Antonio Kast

José Antonio Kast, born on January eighteenth, nineteen sixty-six, is a prominent Chilean lawyer and politician who has been serving as the president of Chile since two thousand twenty-six. His political career began in the Chamber of Deputies, where he represented districts in the Santiago Metropolitan Region from two thousand two until two thousand eighteen.

Initially a member of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), Kast transitioned to an independent status in two thousand sixteen. He later founded the Republican Party (PRCh) in two thousand nineteen, leading it until his presidency in two thousand twenty-six. His political ideology is broadly right-wing, and his administration is noted for being the most conservative since the Pinochet era.

Kast's presidential ambitions saw him run three times. In two thousand seventeen, he finished fourth as an independent candidate closely aligned with the far-right. He gained significant traction in two thousand twenty-one, winning the first round but ultimately losing the runoff to Gabriel Boric. However, in two thousand twenty-five, he triumphed in the runoff against Communist Party candidate Jeannette Jara, achieving the highest vote share since Chile's return to democracy and winning in all regions.

Shortly before taking office on March eleventh, two thousand twenty-six, Kast resigned from the Republican Party. His administration, which he describes as an 'emergency government,' has prioritized deregulation, tax cuts, and a stringent approach to illegal immigration.
