José Carreras, born Josep Maria Carreras Coll on December fifth, nineteen forty-six, in Barcelona, is a celebrated Spanish operatic tenor renowned for his exceptional performances in the works of Donizetti, Verdi, and Puccini. His journey into the world of opera began at the tender age of eleven, when he made his debut as Trujamán in Manuel de Falla's 'El retablo de Maese Pedro'.

Over the years, Carreras has captivated audiences with his remarkable vocal talent, taking on more than sixty roles across the globe's most prestigious opera houses. His artistry gained international acclaim as he became one of the iconic Three Tenors, alongside Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, during a series of monumental concerts from nineteen ninety to two thousand three.

In addition to his illustrious singing career, Carreras is deeply committed to humanitarian efforts. He founded the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation after his own battle with the disease in nineteen eighty-eight, demonstrating his dedication to raising awareness and supporting research in the fight against leukaemia.
