José Félix Uriburu

José Félix Uriburu, born on July twentieth, eighteen sixty-eight, was a prominent Argentine military officer and politician. He is best known for his role as the President of the Provisional Government of Argentina, a position he assumed following a military coup that ousted the successor to President Hipólito Yrigoyen. This coup, which took place on September sixth, nineteen thirty, marked the beginning of Uriburu's control over both the Executive and Legislative branches of government, a position he held until February twentieth, nineteen thirty-two.

As the de facto Head of State, Uriburu's administration was characterized by significant political upheaval. He implemented sweeping changes, including the banning of political parties, the suspension of elections, and the abrogation of the 1853 Constitution. His government was heavily influenced by the Nacionalistas, a far-right nationalist movement that emerged in Argentina around nineteen ten, advocating for a return to traditionalist values and a more organic social order.

Uriburu's regime was the first in a series of military coups and unconstitutional governments that would shape Argentine politics in the following decades, with similar events occurring in nineteen forty-three, nineteen fifty-five, nineteen sixty-two, nineteen sixty-six, and nineteen seventy-six. His vision for Argentina included a reorganization along corporatist and fascist lines, reflecting the political ideologies of his time.
