José Fonte

José Fonte, born on December 22, 1983, is a distinguished Portuguese professional footballer who currently serves as the captain and centre-back for Primeira Liga club Casa Pia. His journey in professional football began with Sporting CP B, where he honed his skills before making a significant move to England in 2007 to join Crystal Palace.

In 2010, Fonte signed with Southampton, where he became a pivotal figure, making an impressive two hundred eighty-eight appearances across all competitions. His tenure at Southampton solidified his reputation, leading to a transfer to West Ham United in January 2017. After his time in England, he ventured abroad, representing Dalian Yifang in China and Lille in France, where he celebrated winning the Ligue 1 title during the 2020–21 season.
