José María Figueres, born on December twenty-fourth, nineteen fifty-four, is a prominent Costa Rican businessman and politician. He made history by becoming the youngest elected president of Costa Rica in the twentieth century, serving from nineteen ninety-four to nineteen ninety-eight. His political journey began after a decade in agribusiness, where he initially worked as an engineer.
Before ascending to the presidency, Figueres held significant roles in public service, including Minister of Foreign Trade and Minister of Agriculture. After leaving office in nineteen ninety-eight, Figueres continued to engage with international issues.
