Joseph-Enoil Michaud, born on September twenty-sixth, eighteen eighty-eight in Saint-Antonin, Quebec, was a prominent figure in Canadian politics. His career spanned several decades, during which he made significant contributions as a lawyer, notary, and politician. Michaud represented Madawaska County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from nineteen seventeen to nineteen thirty-three as a member of the Liberal Party.

In addition to his role in the Legislative Assembly, Michaud served as a minister without portfolio in the Executive Council of New Brunswick from nineteen twenty to nineteen twenty-one and again from nineteen twenty-three to nineteen twenty-five. His leadership extended to local governance as well, where he held the position of mayor of Edmundston from nineteen nineteen to nineteen twenty and later from nineteen thirty-two to nineteen thirty-six.

Michaud's political journey continued as he was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a by-election for the New Brunswick riding of Restigouche—Madawaska in nineteen thirty-three. A dedicated Liberal, he was re-elected in nineteen thirty-five and nineteen forty. Throughout his tenure, he held several key ministerial roles in the cabinet of Prime Minister Mackenzie King, including Minister of Fisheries, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada (Acting), Minister of Public Works (Acting), and Minister of Transport.
