Joseph Hormisdas Rainville

Joseph Hormisdas Rainville was a prominent lawyer and political figure in Quebec, born on March eighth, eighteen seventy-five, in Marieville. He was the son of Isaïe-Denis Rainville and Cornélie Rainville, and he pursued his education at the esteemed Université Laval. After being admitted to the bar in nineteen hundred, Rainville established his legal practice in Montreal, where he began to make a name for himself in the legal community.

His political career took off when he was elected as a Conservative representative for Chambly—Verchères in the House of Commons of Canada, serving from nineteen eleven to nineteen seventeen. Following this, he transitioned to the Senate of Canada, where he represented the Repentigny division from nineteen twenty-three until nineteen forty-two, showcasing his dedication to public service.

In nineteen ten, Rainville married Ferréola Gendreau, and together they contributed to their community. His leadership skills were recognized in nineteen thirty when he was appointed president of the Commission of the Port of Montreal. Rainville's contributions to society were further acknowledged in nineteen thirty-four when he was named a Chevalier in the French Légion d'honneur.

Tragically, Joseph Hormisdas Rainville passed away in office at the age of sixty-seven, leaving behind a legacy of public service and commitment to the people of Quebec. His uncle, Henri-Benjamin Rainville, also made his mark in politics by serving in the Quebec assembly, indicating a family tradition of civic engagement.
