Joseph Masson

Joseph Masson, born on January fifth, eighteen ninety-one, was a prominent Canadian businessman and politician who made significant contributions to the economic landscape of Quebec. Recognized as the first French Canadian millionaire, he played a pivotal role in shaping the business community during the early nineteenth century.

As the Seigneur of Terrebonne, Quebec, Masson held various influential positions, including president of the Masson societies and the City Gas. His leadership extended to the financial sector, where he served as vice-president of the Banque de Montréal, showcasing his expertise in both commerce and governance.

In addition to his business ventures, Masson was an active member of the Legislative Council of Lower Canada and the president of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society of Montreal.
