Joseph Schooling, born on June sixteenth, nineteen ninety-five, is a distinguished former professional swimmer from Singapore, renowned for his expertise in butterfly, freestyle, and medley events. His remarkable career reached a pinnacle at the 2016 Olympics, where he made history by winning Singapore's first-ever Olympic gold medal in the 100m butterfly. His extraordinary time of fifty point thirty-nine seconds not only secured him the gold but also shattered multiple records at the National, Southeast Asian, Asian, and Olympic levels.

An alumnus of the prestigious Anglo-Chinese School, Schooling furthered his education at the University of Texas at Austin. There, he was an integral member of the Texas Longhorns swimming team, which is celebrated as one of the top collegiate swim programs in the United States, under the guidance of two-time Olympic men's head coach Eddie Reese.

Schooling's journey to Olympic qualification began in two thousand twelve when he clinched victory in the 200m butterfly at the 2011 SEA Games. This achievement marked the start of his ascent in the competitive swimming arena, culminating in his historic Olympic success.
