Josh Weinstein

Josh Weinstein, born on May fifth, nineteen sixty-six, is a prominent American screenwriter, actor, television producer, and showrunner, best known for his influential work on the animated series The Simpsons. His journey in the entertainment industry began at St. Albans School, where he formed a lasting friendship and writing partnership with Bill Oakley. Following his education at Stanford University, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Stanford Chaparral, Weinstein navigated various short-term media projects, including writing for the variety show Sunday Best, before facing a challenging period of unemployment.

Weinstein and Oakley eventually made their mark by penning a spec script for Seinfeld, which led to their first writing credit on The Simpsons with the episode 'Marge Gets a Job.' In nineteen ninety-two, they were hired on a permanent basis, contributing to iconic episodes such as '$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling),' 'Bart vs. Australia,' and 'Who Shot Mr. Burns?'. Their creative prowess earned them the roles of executive producers and showrunners for the seventh and eighth seasons, during which they focused on emotional storytelling and high-concept episodes, garnering three Primetime Emmy Awards for their exceptional work.

After their tenure on The Simpsons, Weinstein and Oakley ventured into new projects, creating the animated series Mission Hill and serving as consulting producers on Futurama. They also launched The Mullets in two thousand three and worked on several TV pilots, although not all were successful. Weinstein remained involved with the show Sit Down, Shut Up until its cancellation in two thousand nine, following Oakley's departure over a contract dispute. He later co-produced and wrote for Futurama during its Comedy Central revival, earning an Emmy in two thousand eleven.

In recent years, Weinstein has taken on the role of showrunner for the CBBC series Strange Hill High and the reboot of Danger Mouse in two thousand fifteen. He contributed as a writer for season two of Gravity Falls, co-writing nine episodes. In two thousand eighteen, he co-developed the Netflix animated series Disenchantment alongside creator Matt Groening, serving as co-showrunner. Outside of his professional achievements, Weinstein is married to journalist Lisa Simmons.
