Joshua Angrist

Joshua Angrist, born on September eighteenth, nineteen sixty, is a prominent Israeli American economist and a distinguished Ford Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His groundbreaking work in labor economics, urban economics, econometrics, and the economics of education has established him as one of the leading figures in the field.

In recognition of his significant methodological contributions to the analysis of causal relationships, Angrist was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in twenty twenty-one, alongside Guido Imbens. His innovative use of quasi-experimental research designs, particularly instrumental variables, has provided valuable insights into the effects of public policies and shifts in economic or social circumstances.

As a co-founder and co-director of MIT's Blueprint Labs, Angrist focuses on researching the intricate relationship between human capital and income inequality in the United States.
