Juan José Omella

Juan José Omella, born on April twenty-first, nineteen forty-six, is a distinguished Spanish prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He has held the esteemed position of Archbishop of Barcelona since December two thousand fifteen and was elevated to the rank of cardinal on June twenty-eighth, two thousand seventeen.

His ecclesiastical journey includes significant roles such as the Auxiliary Bishop of Zaragoza from nineteen ninety-six to nineteen ninety-nine, followed by his tenure as Bishop of Barbastro-Monzón from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand four, and Bishop of Calahorra y La Calzada-Logroño from two thousand four until two thousand fifteen.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Omella served as the President of the Episcopal Conference of Spain from two thousand twenty to two thousand twenty-four, showcasing his leadership within the Church.
