Juan Manuel Santos

Juan Manuel Santos, born on August tenth, nineteen fifty-one, is a prominent Colombian politician, journalist, economist, and lawyer. He served as the President of Colombia from two thousand ten to two thousand eighteen and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in two thousand sixteen for his efforts in negotiating a peace treaty with the FARC guerrilla group.

Coming from the influential Santos family, who were majority shareholders of El Tiempo, Colombia's leading newspaper, Santos began his political career as Colombia's first Minister of Foreign Trade in nineteen ninety-one under President César Gaviria. He later held the position of Minister of Finance and Public Credit in two thousand, appointed by President Andrés Pastrana.
