Juan Mata, born on April 28, 1988, is a distinguished Spanish professional footballer currently showcasing his talents as a midfielder for A-League Men club Melbourne Victory. Renowned for his versatility, Mata primarily operates as an attacking midfielder but is also adept at playing as a winger.

A product of Real Madrid's esteemed youth academy, Mata began his professional journey with Real Madrid Castilla during the 2006-07 season. His career took a significant turn in the summer of 2007 when he joined Valencia, where he quickly became a pivotal figure in the midfield, amassing one hundred seventy-four appearances and clinching the Copa del Rey.

In 2011, Mata made a high-profile move to English club Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of twenty-eight million euros. He quickly established himself as a key player, contributing to the team's triumphs in the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and UEFA Europa League during his first two seasons.
