Judith H. Myers

Judith H. Myers, born on July third, nineteen forty-one, is a distinguished Canadian-American ecologist and entomologist renowned for her extensive research in the field of plant-animal-microbe interactions. Her work has significantly advanced the understanding of insect pest outbreaks and viral pathogens affecting insects, as well as pioneering biological control methods for invasive species.

In two thousand fourteen, Myers was elected president of the Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution, a role she held until two thousand sixteen. Her leadership in this capacity reflects her commitment to the advancement of ecological science and her advocacy for public understanding of science.

Throughout her career, Myers has been a strong proponent for increasing the representation of women in STEM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. She has served as a trustee of the Entomological Society of Canada and was honored with its gold medal in two thousand four for her significant contributions to biological control theory and practice.

In addition to her accolades, including the McCarthy Award from the Professional Pest Management Association of British Columbia, Myers is a prolific author whose works are widely held in libraries around the globe, further solidifying her impact on the scientific community.
