Judy Foote, born on June twenty-third, nineteen fifty-two, is a distinguished Canadian politician and broadcast journalist who made history as the first woman to serve as the fourteenth lieutenant governor of Newfoundland and Labrador from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty-three.
Before her appointment as the viceregal representative of the King in Right of Newfoundland and Labrador, Foote had a notable career in federal politics. She was a Liberal Member of Parliament for the ridings of Random—Burin—St. George's from two thousand eight to two thousand fifteen and Bonavista—Burin—Trinity from two thousand fifteen to two thousand seventeen.
During her time in Parliament, she held the position of federal Minister of Public Services and Procurement until her resignation from cabinet and Parliament for family reasons on August twenty-four, two thousand seventeen. Her political journey began in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly, where she represented Grand Bank as a member of the Liberal Party from nineteen ninety-six to two thousand seven.
