Julie Bishop

Julie Bishop, born on July seventeenth, nineteen fifty-six, is a distinguished Australian politician, diplomat, and lawyer. Hailing from Lobethal, South Australia, she pursued her legal studies at the University of Adelaide before embarking on a successful career as a commercial lawyer in Perth, where she served as the local managing partner of Clayton Utz.

Entering the political arena in nineteen ninety-eight, Bishop represented the Division of Curtin in the House of Representatives until two thousand nineteen. She held several significant ministerial roles during the Howard government, including Minister for Ageing, Minister for Education and Science, and Minister for Women. In two thousand seven, she made history as the first woman to be elected deputy leader of the Liberal Party, a position she held until two thousand eighteen.

In two thousand thirteen, Bishop was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Abbott government, becoming Australia's first female foreign minister. Her tenure was marked by critical issues such as the international military intervention against ISIL and the tragic shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight seventeen.
