Jure Zdovc

Jure Zdovc, born on December thirteenth, nineteen sixty-six, is a distinguished Slovenian former professional basketball player and coach. Standing at one point ninety-eight meters tall, or six feet six inches, he began his professional playing career with Smelt Olimpija in the Yugoslav Second Division. His impressive skills on the court quickly garnered attention, leading to a successful career that spanned several years.

Throughout his playing days, Zdovc was recognized for his exceptional talent, earning a spot on the FIBA European Selection three times, specifically in the years nineteen ninety and nineteen ninety-one, and was also selected as a FIBA EuroStar in nineteen ninety-six. He proudly represented both the senior Yugoslav national team and the senior Slovenian national team, showcasing his abilities on an international stage.

In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Zdovc was inducted into the Slovenian Athletes Hall of Fame in two thousand fifteen and later into the FIBA Hall of Fame in two thousand twenty. His transition from player to coach saw him take the helm of various teams, including a notable tenure as the head coach of PAOK in the Greek Basketball League and the FIBA Europe Cup.

As a coach, Zdovc's expertise was acknowledged when he received the EuroCup Coach of the Year award in two thousand twelve while leading the Russian club Spartak Saint Petersburg. His journey through basketball, both as a player and a coach, has left an indelible mark on the sport.
