Justin Mapletoft, born on January eleventh, nineteen eighty-one, is a former professional ice hockey centre from Canada. He was selected by the New York Islanders during the fifth round of the nineteen ninety-nine NHL entry draft, being the one hundred thirtieth overall pick. Over the course of his career, he played thirty-eight NHL games with the Islanders, showcasing his skills on the ice.
Mapletoft's journey in professional hockey included four seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League. His career took an international turn when he was recommended by his linemate Sean Bergenheim to join Jokerit in the Finnish SM-liiga for the two thousand five to two thousand six season. Unfortunately, after a challenging start, the team opted to invoke a buyout clause in his contract, leading to an early end to his time with Jokerit.
Following his stint in Finland, Mapletoft continued his career in Sweden, signing with Södertälje SK in the Elitserien. The subsequent summer, he secured a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators, further expanding his professional experience. In the two thousand eight to two thousand nine season, he played for EC VSV in the Austrian league, before spending two seasons with the Straubing Tigers in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, rounding out a diverse and international hockey career.
