Kaja Kallas, born on June eighteenth, nineteen seventy-seven, is a prominent Estonian politician and diplomat. She made history as the first female prime minister of Estonia, a position she held from two thousand twenty-one until two thousand twenty-four. Her tenure as prime minister concluded as she prepared for her new role as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

As the daughter of former prime minister Siim Kallas, Kaja has deep political roots. She led the Estonian Reform Party from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty-four and served as a member of the Riigikogu from two thousand eleven to two thousand fourteen and again from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-one. Her experience also includes a term in the European Parliament from two thousand fourteen to two thousand eighteen, where she represented the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

Before entering the political arena, Kallas built a career as a lawyer specializing in European competition law. Her legal expertise has undoubtedly informed her political decisions and strategies throughout her career.

Since two thousand twenty-four, Kaja Kallas has taken on the dual roles of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in the second von der Leyen Commission, continuing to shape European policy on the global stage.
