He notably played in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt, the Premier League for Manchester City, and the Russian Premier League for teams such as Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Moscow, Alania Vladikavkaz, and Anzhi Makhachkala. His career also included stints with Metalurg Rustavi, Lokomotivi Tbilisi, Dinamo Tbilisi, and GIF Sundsvall.
