Karim Khalili

Karim Khalili, born in 1950, is a prominent Afghan politician known for his leadership within the Hezb-e Wahdat Islami Afghanistan party. His political journey has been marked by significant roles, including his tenure as Chief of the Afghan High Peace Council from 2017 until its dissolution in 2019.

In the early 2000s, Khalili was selected as a candidate for Second Vice President of Afghanistan by Hamid Karzai. The duo was elected in 2004, serving the nation until 2014. His contributions during this period were pivotal in shaping Afghanistan's political landscape.

Since 1989, Khalili has been a key figure in the Wahdat political party, representing the interests of the Hazara community. His leadership has been instrumental in advocating for peace and unity within Afghanistan.
