Chad Allegra, widely recognized by his ring name Karl Anderson, was born on January 20, 1980. An accomplished American professional wrestler and actor, Anderson has made significant contributions to the world of wrestling, particularly through his extensive tenures in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), WWE, and Impact Wrestling.
Anderson is celebrated for his prowess as a tag team specialist, having secured the IWGP Tag Team Championship four times. Notably, he holds the record for the longest reign and the most defenses of this title, achieved during his first reign alongside his former partner, Giant Bernard. Their partnership also led to them capturing the GHC Tag Team Championship in Pro Wrestling Noah, and in 2011, they were honored as the tag team of the year by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
A founding member and key figure of the Bullet Club stable, Anderson has triumphed in NJPW's prestigious G1/World Tag League tournament three times, winning in 2009 with Bernard, in 2012 with Hirooki Goto, and in 2013 with Doc Gallows. His career also includes a stint with the independent promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) from two thousand seven to two thousand nine.
After spending a significant portion of his career in Japan, Anderson signed with WWE in 2016, joining forces with Gallows, A.J. Styles, and Shinsuke Nakamura. During his initial run with WWE, he and Gallows captured the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship on two occasions. Following their release from WWE in April two thousand twenty, they signed with Impact Wrestling, where they became three-time Impact World Tag Team Champions.
In two thousand twenty-two, after their contracts with Impact expired, Anderson achieved further success by winning NJPW's NEVER Openweight Championship. While still holding the title, he and Gallows made their return to WWE in October of the same year. On January 4, 2023, at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Anderson made history as the first WWE contracted wrestler to compete at NJPW's marquee event, although he ultimately lost the title.
