Karl Tilleman

Karl Tilleman, born on November first, nineteen sixty, is a distinguished Canadian who has made significant contributions as a priest, basketball player, and attorney. His athletic prowess is highlighted by his remarkable achievements in basketball, where he represented Canada as a two-time Olympian in the nineteen eighty-four and nineteen eighty-eight Olympic Games. Tilleman is celebrated for holding the Olympic records for the most three-point field goals in a single game, with ten, and in a half, with eight. His national team coach, the esteemed FIBA Hall of Fame inductee Jack Donohue, hailed him as 'the best three-point shooter in the world.'

During his collegiate career at the University of Calgary, Tilleman shattered records and earned accolades that solidified his legacy. He was the first player to win the Mike Mosier Trophy as the male Canadian University player of the year in consecutive years, nineteen eighty-two and nineteen eighty-three. In the nineteen eighty-one to nineteen eighty-two season, he averaged an impressive thirty-two point nine points per game, breaking the previous CIAU points per game record before the introduction of the three-point line. Tilleman was a two-time CIAU scoring champion and a four-time CIAU First Team All-Canadian, graduating as the University of Calgary's all-time leading scorer with a total of two thousand fifty career points.

Transitioning from sports to law, Tilleman has had a notable legal career, serving as a law clerk for former Chief Justice Warren Burger and Justice Clarence Thomas at the Supreme Court of the United States from nineteen ninety-two to nineteen ninety-three. He has held the position of managing partner at Steptoe & Johnson's Phoenix office and is currently a partner at Dentons, the largest law firm in the world. Throughout his legal journey, Tilleman has represented high-profile clients, including the Harlem Globetrotters, the University of Southern California, Western Union, State Farm, AIG, and Metlife, Inc.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Tilleman has dedicated himself to volunteer service within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He has served in various leadership roles, including bishop and stake president in Phoenix, Arizona, mission president of the Canada Vancouver Mission, and Area Seventy in the Church's North America Southwest Area.
