Karl Wilhelm Ramler

Karl Wilhelm Ramler, born on February twenty-fifth, seventeen twenty-five, in Kolberg, was a distinguished German poet, writer, and translator. His academic journey led him to the University of Halle, where he honed his intellectual prowess before making his way to Berlin.

In seventeen forty-eight, Ramler was appointed as a professor of logic and literature at the Berlin Cadet School, a position that showcased his expertise and passion for education. His influence extended beyond the classroom, as he became involved in the management of the royal theatre alongside the notable author Johann Jakob Engel in seventeen eighty-six.

After resigning from his professorship, Ramler took on the role of sole director of the royal theatre from seventeen ninety to seventeen ninety-six, further solidifying his legacy in the arts. He spent his final years in Berlin, where he passed away, leaving behind a memorial that can be found on the exterior wall of the city's Sophienkirche.
