Katarzyna Kobro

Katarzyna Kobro, born on January twenty-sixth, nineteen ninety-eight, was a pioneering Polish avant-garde sculptor and a key figure in the Constructivist movement in Poland. Her innovative approach to multi-dimensional abstract sculpture set her apart as a trailblazer in the art world. Rejecting traditional Aestheticism, Kobro championed the integration of spatial rhythm and scientific advancements into visual art, reshaping the landscape of contemporary sculpture.

Born in Moscow to a family with mixed German and Russian heritage, Kobro immigrated to Poland in the 1920s, where she would create the majority of her influential works. Her artistic journey was deeply intertwined with that of her husband, Władysław Strzemiński, as they collaboratively explored the concept of Spatiality. Together, they sought to incorporate spatial composition, prefabricated elements, and industrial products into their sculptures, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.

Kobro's legacy is marked by her commitment to innovation and her belief in the transformative power of art. Through her work, she not only contributed to the Constructivist movement but also inspired future generations of artists to explore the intersection of art, science, and technology.
