Kate Brown

Kate Brown, born on June twenty-first, nineteen sixty, is a prominent American politician and attorney who made history as the first openly LGBT person elected governor of a U.S. state. Serving as the thirty-eighth governor of Oregon from two thousand fifteen to two thousand twenty-three, she has been a trailblazer in her political career.

Before her governorship, Brown held various significant positions within the Oregon state government. She represented the thirteenth district in the Oregon House of Representatives for three terms from nineteen ninety-one to nineteen ninety-seven. Following that, she served three terms in the Oregon Senate from the twenty-first district from nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand nine, where she also held the role of majority leader from two thousand three to two thousand nine.

In two thousand nine, Brown was elected as Oregon Secretary of State, a position she held until two thousand fifteen. She ascended to the governorship after the resignation of John Kitzhaber and was subsequently elected to complete his term in a special election in two thousand sixteen. Her re-election in two thousand eighteen solidified her position as a key figure in Oregon politics.
