Katherina Matousek, born on April twentieth, nineteen sixty-four, is a distinguished former pair skater who represented Canada in international competitions. Her journey in figure skating began at a young age, where she showcased her talent as a junior skater, winning a regional junior pairs title alongside her partner Brad Starchuk. Early in her career, she also teamed up with Eric Thomsen, gaining valuable experience on the ice.
In nineteen eighty-two, Katherina joined forces with the talented Lloyd Eisler, marking a significant turning point in her skating career. Together, they achieved remarkable success, culminating in a gold medal victory at the Canadian Championships in nineteen eighty-four. Their impressive performance at the Olympics that same year saw them finish in eighth place, a testament to their skill and dedication.
The following year, Katherina and Lloyd continued to excel, earning a bronze medal at the nineteen eighty-five World Championships. However, her competitive career was cut short when she retired on May fourteenth, nineteen eighty-six, due to a stress fracture in her right ankle. Despite this setback, Katherina transitioned into a new role as a skating coach in North Vancouver, sharing her expertise and passion for the sport with the next generation of skaters.
