Kathy Ellis, born on November 28, 1946, is a distinguished American swimmer who made her mark in the world of competitive swimming. Known for her remarkable achievements, she was a member of the Riviera Swim Club and gained international fame as a champion at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, where she excelled in the 4×100-meter freestyle and medley relay events.
In addition to her Olympic success, Kathy held world records in three different swimming events, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. After graduating from Indiana University in 1968 with a degree in Nursing, she transitioned from athlete to coach, taking over the reins from her former coach, Gene Lee, at the Riviera Club.
Kathy's coaching career extended beyond the Riviera Club, as she also contributed her expertise at Butler University, where she continued the legacy of her mentor, Gene Lee. Later, she took her coaching skills to Wabash College, further influencing the next generation of swimmers.
