Katinka Hosszú, born on May 3, 1989, is a distinguished Hungarian former competitive swimmer renowned for her expertise in individual medley events. Over her illustrious career, she has achieved remarkable success, becoming a three-time Olympic champion and a nine-time long-course world champion. Hosszú is also the proud owner of Iron Swim Budapest, a swim school and club, and a founding member and captain of Team Iron in the International Swimming League.
Throughout her career, Hosszú set seven world records and made history as the first swimmer, regardless of gender, to hold world records in all five individual medley events simultaneously. She holds an impressive two-thirds of the Hungarian national records and has been recognized as FINA Swimmer of the Year multiple times, in the years 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018. Additionally, she received SwimSwam's Swammy Award for Female Swimmer of the Year in 2013.
Hosszú's Olympic journey spans five Summer Games, from 2004 to 2020. After a significant period training under her husband, head coach Shane Tusup, she transitioned to coaching with Dave Salo and later Árpád Petrov. By the end of 2019, she parted ways with Petrov and welcomed József Nagy as her new coach in 2020.
