Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Katō Yoshiaki

Katō Yoshiaki, born in 1563, was a prominent samurai and daimyō during the transformative years of the late Sengoku period into the early Edo period. He held the esteemed position of lord over the Aizu Domain, a role that placed him at the heart of Japan's feudal power struggles.

As a loyal retainer of the influential Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Katō distinguished himself in the battle of Shizugatake in 1583. His valor and skill in combat earned him a place among the legendary shichi-hon-yari, or Seven Spears of Shizugatake, a group recognized for their exceptional prowess on the battlefield.

Katō's military career was marked by significant engagements, including his participation in the naval battles during the Siege of Shimoda as part of the Odawara Campaign in 1590. His strategic acumen was further demonstrated during the first and second Korean Campaigns, where he fought valiantly along the southern coast of the Korean peninsula.
