Katsura Sunshine, born on April sixth, nineteen seventy, is a distinguished Canadian rakugo comic storyteller, theatre producer, and playwright. He has captivated audiences around the globe with his unique storytelling style, which blends humor and traditional Japanese performance art.
Sunshine made his professional debut in Singapore on April twenty-six, two thousand nine, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the world of rakugo. After completing a rigorous three-year apprenticeship in November two thousand eleven, he honed his craft and began to share his talent with a wider audience.
His performances have taken him to numerous countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Slovenia, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa, Gabon, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Australia, as well as throughout Japan. Currently, he resides in New York City, where he continues to inspire and entertain.
In July two thousand twelve, Katsura Sunshine opened his own rakugo theatre, the Ise Kawasaki Kikitei, in his home in Ise. For two years, he regularly performed rakugo stories, further establishing his presence in the art form and contributing to its appreciation.
