Kavita Krishnan, born in 1973, is a prominent women's rights activist and journalist known for her passionate advocacy against violence towards women. Her activism gained significant attention following the tragic 2012 Delhi gang rape of Nirbhaya, which highlighted the urgent need for societal change and legal reform in India.
In addition to her activism, Krishnan has had a notable political career. She served as a politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation and was a dedicated member of its Central Committee for over twenty years. Her commitment to leftist politics and social justice has been a defining aspect of her professional journey.
Krishnan also played a crucial role in media as the editor of CPI (M-L) Liberation's monthly publication, Liberation. Her editorial work has been instrumental in disseminating progressive ideas and raising awareness about various social issues.
Furthermore, she held the position of Secretary of the All India Progressive Women's Association (AIPWA), where she worked tirelessly to promote women's rights and empowerment.
