Kay Sage

Katherine Linn Sage, known as Kay Sage, was born on June 25, 1898, and emerged as a prominent figure in the American Surrealist movement. Active from 1936 until her passing in 1963, Sage's artistic endeavors were characterized by a unique architectural style that set her apart from her contemporaries. Her works often explored themes that intertwined the surreal with the structural, inviting viewers into her imaginative landscapes.

In 1925, Sage's life took a significant turn when she married an Italian prince, becoming the princess of San Faustino. This union not only elevated her social standing but also connected her to influential circles, including her sister-in-law, Donna Virginia Bourbon del Monte, who was married to the industrialist Edoardo Agnelli of the renowned Agnelli family.

Throughout her career, Sage was not only a painter but also an autobiographer, diarist, illustrator, and poet. Her multifaceted talents allowed her to express her thoughts and emotions through various mediums, enriching the Surrealist movement with her distinctive voice.
