Kaya Turski, born on May third, nineteen eighty-eight, is a distinguished Canadian freestyle skier renowned for her exceptional achievements in Women's Ski slope style. With an impressive record of eight Winter X Games championships, she has solidified her status as a leading figure in the sport. Notably, at the 2010 Winter X Games XIV in Aspen, she achieved a remarkable gold medal victory, setting a record with the highest slopestyle score ever recorded at a Winter X Games, an astounding ninety-six point sixty-six.
In the following year, Turski continued to showcase her talent by winning the gold medal in Slopestyle at the 2011 Winter X Games XV, outpacing competitors Keri Herman and Grete Eliassen. Shortly thereafter, she earned a silver medal at the 2011 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, finishing just behind Australia's Anna Segal. However, her career faced a significant challenge in mid-2013 when she suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Before her foray into skiing, Kaya was actively involved in aggressive inline skating during her early teenage years. At the age of seventeen, she relocated from Montreal to Whistler to pursue skiing more seriously, despite having limited experience in the sport. Her linguistic abilities include fluency in English, French, and Polish, reflecting her diverse heritage; her grandmother was a Polish skier who emigrated to Canada with her two sons after World War II.
Currently, Kaya divides her time between Montreal and Mammoth Lakes, California. She also represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. On October third, two thousand seventeen, Turski announced her retirement from freestyle skiing, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and inspiration in the sport.
