Kaye Marie Hall, born on May 15, 1951, in Tacoma, Washington, is a distinguished American swimmer who made her mark in the world of competitive swimming. Known later by her married name, Kaye Greff, she is celebrated as a two-time Olympic champion and a former world record-holder in two events.
Her journey in swimming began at the Tacoma Swim Club, where she trained under the guidance of Hall of Fame coach Dick Hannula. Hall's dedication and talent shone through during her high school years at Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, setting the stage for her future successes.
Hall's international debut came at the 1967 Pan American Games held in Winnipeg, where she showcased her prowess by winning a silver medal in the 100-meter backstroke, finishing just behind Canadian gold medalist Elaine Tanner. Notably, in December of the same year, she made history by becoming the first woman to swim the 100-yard backstroke in under one minute, a remarkable achievement that underscored her exceptional skill and determination.
