Kaykhusraw II

Kaykhusraw II, born in the year twelve twenty-one, ascended to the throne as the Sultan of the Seljuqs of Rûm in twelve thirty-seven. His reign, which lasted until his death in twelve forty-six, was marked by significant turmoil and conflict, including the Babai uprising and the looming threat of the Mongol invasion of Anatolia.

During his rule, Kaykhusraw II demonstrated his military leadership by commanding the Seljuq army alongside its Christian allies at the pivotal Battle of Köse Dağ in twelve forty-three. This battle was a crucial moment in the struggle against Mongol forces, highlighting the challenges faced by his kingdom during this turbulent period.

Despite his efforts, Kaykhusraw II became the last of the Seljuq sultans to hold any substantial power. His reign concluded as he succumbed to the pressures of the Mongol dominance, ultimately dying as a vassal under their rule. His legacy remains a testament to the complexities of leadership in a time of great upheaval.
