Ghiyāth ad-Dīn Kaykhusraw bin Qilij Arslān, known as Kaykhusraw III, was born around the year twelve fifty-nine. He emerged into a world where the Seljuq dynasty was in decline, and his lineage was marked by both promise and challenge.
In the year one thousand two hundred sixty-five, at a tender age between two and six, Kaykhusraw III was named the Seljuq Sultan of Rûm. This early ascension to power came during a tumultuous period, as he was the son of Kilij Arslan IV, a ruler whose authority was significantly undermined by the influence of the Pervane, Mu’in al-Din Suleyman.
Despite his youth, Kaykhusraw III's reign was characterized by the complexities of navigating a kingdom under the shadow of powerful advisors and external pressures. His story reflects the struggles of a young ruler striving to assert his authority in a fragmented political landscape.
