Kazimira Prunskienė

Kazimira Prunskienė, born on February twenty-six, nineteen forty-three, is a prominent Lithuanian politician and economist, renowned for her pivotal role in the country's post-independence era. She made history as the first prime minister of Lithuania following the declaration of independence on March eleventh, nineteen ninety. Her leadership marked a significant transition for Lithuania as it navigated its newfound sovereignty.

In addition to her role as prime minister, Prunskienė served as the Minister of Agriculture in the government of Gediminas Kirkilas. Her political journey includes leadership positions in the Peasants and New Democratic Party Union and the Lithuanian People's Party, showcasing her influence in shaping Lithuanian politics.

Prunskienė's career also extended beyond Lithuania; from nineteen eighty-one to nineteen eighty-six, she worked in West Germany, gaining valuable international experience. In two thousand four, she ran for the presidency of Lithuania, competing against Valdas Adamkus.
