Keiji Inafune, born on May eighth, nineteen sixty-five, is a renowned Japanese video game producer, character designer, and businessman. His illustrious career began at Capcom in the late nineteen eighties, where he initially worked as an artist and illustrator. Among his earliest contributions were the iconic titles Street Fighter and Mega Man, both released in nineteen eighty-seven. Inafune's creativity flourished as he took on the role of character designer and planner for the Mega Man series during the NES and Super NES era, notably creating the beloved character Zero for Mega Man X.
Inafune's ascent within Capcom continued as he transitioned to the position of producer, with his first major title being Mega Man 8 in nineteen ninety-six. His influence extended to several successful franchises, including Mega Man X4, the Mega Man Legends trilogy, the Mega Man Zero series, and the Mega Man Battle Network and Star Force series. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the development of the Lost Planet, Dead Rising, and Onimusha series. By two thousand six, he had risen to the rank of Senior Corporate Officer of Research & Development, and in two thousand ten, he became the Global Head of Production at Capcom.
In late two thousand ten, Inafune made the bold decision to leave Capcom and establish his own companies, Comcept and Intercept. He also took on the role of Representative Director at DiNG, a mobile game studio. Intercept was involved in the development of Kaio: King of Pirates, a project announced in two thousand eleven but ultimately canceled in two thousand fifteen. During his tenure at Comcept, Inafune oversaw the creation of several notable games, including Mighty No. 9, Soul Sacrifice, and the unreleased Red Ash: The Indelible Legend.
In two thousand seventeen, Comcept was acquired and became a subsidiary of Level-5, rebranding as Level-5 Comcept. After seven years with the company, it was revealed in March twenty twenty-five that Inafune had departed from Level-5, marking another significant chapter in his dynamic career.
