Kellie Loder

Kellie Loder, born on January first, nineteen eighty-eight, is a talented independent singer-songwriter hailing from Newfoundland. A multi-instrumentalist, Loder plays drums, guitar, and piano, showcasing a diverse musical talent. They have released three albums: 'The Way' in two thousand nine, 'Imperfections & Directions' in two thousand ten, and 'Benefit of the Doubt' in two thousand eighteen. Loder's voice has been described by St. John's-based newspaper The Telegram as 'powerful yet serene and soulful,' earning them critical acclaim across Canada, including a nomination at the prestigious Juno Awards.

At the age of sixteen, Loder penned their first song in memory of a cousin who tragically lost their life in a traffic accident. While studying nursing at the Grenfell Campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland, Loder released their debut album, 'The Way,' in August two thousand nine. That same year, they triumphed in a talent-search contest hosted by YC Newfoundland, a Christian youth conference, which provided them with invaluable time with music industry professionals to help produce their second album, 'Imperfections & Directions,' released at the two thousand ten YC Newfoundland. This album garnered a nomination for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year at the two thousand twelve Juno Awards.

In addition to their Juno nomination, Loder has been recognized with three MusicNL award nominations, including Gospel Artist of the Year in two thousand eleven. Their music journey is distinctive, as they initially ventured into Contemporary Christian music (CCM), a genre less commonly chosen by emerging artists who often gravitate towards country and pop for commercial success. Loder has expressed that they chose CCM for its purpose-driven nature, although they later transitioned towards mainstream pop and rock music, maintaining a spiritual perspective while aiming for broader accessibility.

Throughout their career, Loder has embraced gender-neutral pronouns, reflecting their commitment to inclusivity and representation in the music industry.
