Kelly Loeffler

Kelly Loeffler, born on November 27, 1970, is a prominent American businesswoman and politician. She made her mark as the 28th Administrator of the Small Business Administration, a role she has held since February 2025. Loeffler's political journey began when she was appointed to the U.S. Senate from Georgia in December 2019, following the resignation of Senator Johnny Isakson due to health issues.

During her tenure in the Senate, Loeffler was a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, supporting key votes that aligned with his administration. She ran in the 2020 Georgia U.S. Senate special election, where she advanced to a runoff against Democrat Raphael Warnock after finishing in the top two during the November election. Despite her efforts, she narrowly lost the runoff by two percentage points on January 5, 2021.

Before her political career, Loeffler served as the chief executive officer of Bakkt, a subsidiary of the Intercontinental Exchange, where her husband, Jeffrey Sprecher, is the CEO. Additionally, she was a co-owner of the Atlanta Dream, a team in the Women's National Basketball Association. Her business acumen and political involvement have made her a notable figure in both sectors.

In the wake of the 2020 presidential election, Loeffler raised concerns about the electoral process, initially planning to object to the certification of the Electoral College results. However, she ultimately voted for certification in January 2021. Following her Senate term, she was nominated by President-elect Trump to lead the Small Business Administration, a nomination that was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in early 2025.
