Kelsey Wog

Kelsey Wog, born on September nineteenth, nineteen ninety-eight, is a distinguished Canadian swimmer known for her prowess in breaststroke events. A former member of the Canadian national team, she made her mark at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships, where she secured a silver medal in the 200 m breaststroke. Her talent shone brightly at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Maui, where she earned two individual medals: a silver in the 200 m breaststroke and a bronze in the 100 m breaststroke. Additionally, she played a crucial role in the 4×100 m medley relay, contributing to another silver medal alongside teammates Danielle Hanus, Rebecca Smith, and Sarah Darcel.

Residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Wog is currently affiliated with the Toronto Titans in the International Swimming League. She was selected to represent Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she faced challenges, placing twenty-third in the heats of the 100 m breaststroke and being disqualified from the 200 m breaststroke event.

Wog's journey continued at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, where she excelled by finishing first in the heats of the 200 m breaststroke. She advanced to the semi-finals, ultimately placing fifth, which allowed her to qualify for the final. In a competitive final, she finished fourth, just zero point sixty-six seconds behind the American bronze medalist, Kate Douglass. Reflecting on her performance, Wog expressed pride in her effort, stating, 'fourth is fourth but I'm really proud of my effort.'

In addition to her individual achievements, Wog contributed to Team Canada's success in the heats of the 4 × 100 m medley relay, helping the team secure a spot in the final. Although she was replaced by Rachel Nicol in the final, she shared in the team's bronze medal victory. After a remarkable career, Kelsey Wog announced her retirement from competitive swimming at the age of twenty-six in twenty twenty-four.
