Ken Watanabe, born on October 21, 1959, is a renowned Japanese actor celebrated for his compelling portrayals of tragic heroes. He gained international acclaim for his roles as General Tadamichi Kuribayashi in Clint Eastwood's 'Letters from Iwo Jima' and Lord Katsumoto Moritsugu in 'The Last Samurai,' the latter earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
