Kenji Ito

Kenji Ito, known affectionately as Itoken, is a distinguished Japanese composer, music arranger, and pianist born on July 5, 1968. With a career spanning over three decades, he has made significant contributions to the world of video game music, particularly through his work on the beloved Mana and SaGa series.

From a young age, Ito displayed a passion for music, learning to play multiple instruments. His journey into the professional realm began when he joined Square as a composer in 1990, following the guidance of a professor. During his more than ten years with the company, he crafted many iconic scores that have left a lasting impact on the gaming industry.

In 2001, Ito transitioned to a freelance composer, yet he has maintained a collaborative relationship with Square. His versatility has allowed him to compose soundtracks for numerous games, as well as to produce music for plays and albums featuring other artists. His compositions have been celebrated in concerts dedicated to his work and at various video game music events.
