Kenneth Smith, widely known by his nickname 'the Jet', was born on March 8, 1965. He is a distinguished American sports commentator and a former professional basketball player who made a significant impact in the National Basketball Association (NBA) over a decade-long career.

Smith's basketball journey began at the collegiate level, where he played for the North Carolina Tar Heels. His exceptional skills on the court earned him consensus first-team All-American honors during his senior year in 1987. Following a stellar college career, he was selected as the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, where he quickly made a name for himself by being named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Throughout his ten seasons in the NBA, Smith played for six different teams, but he is perhaps best remembered for his time with the Houston Rockets. During his tenure with the Rockets, he achieved remarkable success, winning back-to-back NBA championships in 1994 and 1995.
